Number of Brits buying abroad set to soar this Autumn

A record number of Britons look set to buy a property abroad this autumn according to new research from Moneycorp, the UK's leading foreign exchange specialists.
Second home purchases usually rise by about 26 per cent in the autumn months, due mainly to thousands of British holidaymakers who return home from sun-soaked destinations having found their own home in the sun.
Moneycorp's Nick Bull says: "Our figures show that the number of people buying abroad peaks significantly in early autumn as many people use their summer holidays to hunt for their ideal second home."
Such an increase would push the number of British households that own a holiday home in sunnier climes to record highs. Between 2004 and 2006 the number of Britons who bought abroad soared from some 550,000 to 800,000 according to Moneycorp.
And while emerging destinations such as Cape Verde and Brazil are attracting some homebuyers, many Brits are still heading for Spain. Cheap charter flights between Malaga and UK airports, improved infrastructure, good medical care and education - not to mention the wonderful warm weather - are all obvious reasons why Spain still tops the list.

As a holiday home destination, Spain is still hard to beat. Younger families are now moving to the Costa del Sol, for example, well before retirement age - not just to avoid the British winters but to enjoy the relaxed way of life that's synonymous with Spain."
With a further 5.5 million Brits estimated to be living abroad already, the number just keeps growing. With another British winter on its way the Mediterranean climate and lifestyle look more appealing than ever.
