Make a verbal offer through your estate agent. Once the vendor accepts your offer and you agree - in writing - on the price, terms and payment methods, you should pay a reservation deposit, which secures the property for you and takes it off the market for a week or two while your lawyer (who should speak your language and be fluent in Spanish and preferably not connected to the vendor in any way) prepares the necessary paperwork. In Spain the deposit is usually from €3000 to €6000 (approx. £2000 - £4000).
